FAQ

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q Who manufactured the Ostowash unit?
A Please see the manufactures notes section (Click Here)

Q. Who can use this ostowash unit?
A. Anyone that has an ileostomy, colostomy or urostomy will benefit from this ostomy toilet.

Q. Why do I want to use this instead of what I already do?
A. Remember that this is an ostomy toilet and there is nothing like this out there. The alternative is to manually clean them, which is not only disgusting but also unsanitary. This unit allows for very minimal contact with the actual feces and in this day and age that is a bonus in itself.

Q. Do I have to change my ostomy supplies to fit this system?
A. Absolutely not. This ostowash unit will be personalized to fit what you already use (Convatec, Hollister, Coloplast, etc..)

Q. Is it hard to operate?
A. A child could use this ostomy toilet. It is as easy to use as placing the ostomy pouch on yourself. Also the beauty of this is even an elderly person with limited dexterity will still be able to use it without difficulty.

Q. Do I need to hire someone to install the unit in my bathroom?
A. Again the answer is no. This unit can be installed in about fifteen minutes max. Four mounting screws and a "T" in your toilet water line is all it takes.

Q. Can I use any other sanitizing fluid?
A. I wouldn't recommend it. The sanitizing component is part of Ecolab's cleaning unit which is attached to the ostomy toilet and is precisely measured to allow for specific sanitation and is very economical. An Ecolab distributor is available in many cities allowing for easy access and delivery.

Q. Besides sanitation what other benefit is there to having this ostomy toilet?
A. Cleanliness of course is number one but also the pouches have a longer life than they would have without the unit because of the sanitation aspect. Because of the limited exposure time there is also less chance of accidents that often happen with ostomies. For those helping an ostomate it allows for little contact with the soiled pouches, (ie. spouses, healthcare staff, etc..)

Q. Is it a costly unit?
A. This is something you will have for the rest of your life. It is no more expensive than say a fridge or a stove. It will give you peace of mind and give you back the dignity you deserve, to me that is priceless.
